Abstract : One or two foliar applications of 2% KNO3 in October, November and/or December resulted in earlier flowering (30 or more days earlier than in the untreated controls) and earlier harvesting (22 or more days earlier than in the controls). KNO3 application had no effect on fruit number, fruit weight or soluble solids. KNO3 application was more effective than Ethrel [ethephon] application at 500 or 1000 p.p.m.
