Abstract : Methods for estimating the length of the productive cycle in fruit trees and for estimating yields in individual years are described, with particular reference to mangoes. It is suggested that the fruiting index (the relation between tree canopy and number of fruits) should be included in cultivar descriptions and treatment effects as a measure of productive efficiency.
