Abstract : Seeds from south and north India were studied for germination, number of embryos/seed, and the number of seedlings/seed. The data are tabulated. The number of embryos ranged from 2 to 10, seedlings from 1 to 7 and germination from 40.6 to 87.5%. Polyembryonic seeds produced nucellar seedlings under field conditions, and it is suggested that they can be used as rootstocks.
