Carbaryl residue in/on mango fruits.

Abstract : A study was carried out in India to determine the residues in and on mango fruits of carbaryl applied at 0.2% for the control of Amritodus atkinsoni (Leth.), 7 times in 1976-77 and once in 1977-78. In 1976-77, the initial residue on the fruits immediately after the final spraying was 58.16 p.p.m.; this fell to 37.22 p.p.m. on the 3rd day, 18.49 p.p.m. on the 7th day and 10.30 p.p.m. on the 25th day. Similarly, the initial deposit in 1977-78 was 52.56 p.p.m., which fell to 38.00 p.p.m. after 3 days, 20.50 p.p.m. after 7 days and 8.80 p.p.m. after 19 days. In 1976-77, after washing of sprayed fruits, the initial residue was 42.53 p.p.m., after 3 days it was 14.79 p.p.m, after 7 days 13.61 p.p.m. and after 25 days 8.82 p.p.m.; in 1977-78 after washing, the initial residue was 21.13 p.p.m., after 3 days 14.35 p.p.m., after 7 days 13.62 p.p.m., and after 19 days it had fallen below a detectable level.
