Abstract : In a trial with mangoes, cv. Haden, on the control of Xanthomonas campestris pv. mangiferae-indicae, several fungicides were applied 5 times between 30 September and 14 December. Copper oxychloride at 300 g/100 litres water gave the best results, but only 55 and 58% of the fruits were healthy on 8 December and 12 January, respectively. In a similar trial with cv. Sabre, comparing several fungicides applied 7 times between 1 October and 27 January, copper oxychloride at 600 ml/100 litres water gave 76 and 66% healthy fruits on 26 January and 11 February, respectively, compared with only 5 and 26%, respectively, for unsprayed controls. Factors affecting the incidence of blossom malformation, and control measures, are reviewed.
