Evaluation of phenyl carbamate insecticides for the control of mango hopper Idioscopus spp.

Abstract : In a field test at Bhopal in Maharashtra, India, sprays containing BPMC [2-(1-methylpropyl)phenyl methylcarbamate] or isoprocarb (MIPC), each at 0.5 and 0.1% toxicant, were compared with the standard treatment carbaryl at the same concentrations for the control of Idioscopus spp. on mango. The first compound at 0.05% gave 100% knockdown within 6 h and also excellent protection to the plants for over 14 days. Its performance was comparable to that of carbaryl at 0.1% in effectively reducing Idioscopus populations on mango.
