Abstract : Mango 'Baneshan' harvested at two stages of maturity (7-8 and 8-9°Brix) were treated with 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) at 1000 ppb or 2000 ppb and packed in polypropylene 100 gauge bags and Xtend® bags (4 kg/bag) before storage at 12.5±1°C. Representative samples were opened every 14 days and exposed to ambient temperatures for ripening. At four days interval, fruits were evaluated for physiological weight loss, firmness, colour, pH, total soluble solids, acidity, reducing and total sugars, ascorbic acid, ?-carotene and organoleptic quality. Overall, results showed that fruits treated with 1000 ppb 1-MCP and packed in Xtend® bags had better quality and shelf life than the other treatments.
