Influence of foliar sprays of an amino acid formulation on fruit yield of 'Edward' mango.

Abstract : Research was conducted to assess the effects of a biostimulant containing 14.4% free amino acids with 7% nitrogen on fruit set in 'Edward' mango. The biostimulant rates evaluated were 0 (check), 1.5 and 3 L/ha per application. The trees were sprayed to run-off with aqueous solutions of the biostimulant, starting at flowering and repeating the applications three times at 21-day intervals. Total soluble solid concentration in the fruit pulp was not affected by biostimulant treatments. Fruit retention was higher when the trees were treated with the rate of 3 L/ha, as compared to the 1.5 L/ha rate and the check, but increasing fruit retention resulted in reduced individual fruit weight.
