Abstract : The present study was carried out in South Kordofan State, Sudan, particularly in Abugubeiha region to identify fruit fly species which prevailed in the area and to determine their host range as well as infestation levels. The field monitoring of Tephritid fruit fly species using Nulure as a food attractant revealed the presence of three species, namely mango fruit fly Ceratitis cosyra, which was the dominant species in the region, melon fly, Bactrocera cucurbitae and the Asian fruit fly, Bactrocera invadens. Ten plant species out of 24 were identified as hosts for the three mentioned species. Infestation level caused by fruit fly in Abugubeiha area was much higher (67%) in guava during the second season. In the first season, the highest recorded level was also in guava (51%) followed by mango (31%) and grapefruit (18%).
