Flowering and productivity of the mango fruits 'Bourbon', 'Palmer' and 'Rosa' with use of paclobutrazol.

Abstract : In this work evaluated the influence of different paclobutrazol (PBZ) concentrations of in mango fruit (Mangifera indica L.) 'Bourbon', 'Palmer' and 'Rosa', in relation to the flowering and productivity. The research carried out at Coruja Farm, Caraíbas town-Bahia State, Brazil. The experimental design was split-pot, with blocks. The treatments consisted of three varieties and four different concentrations of PBZ: T1 - Test (without paclobutrazol), T2 - 0.4 g.i.a.m-1 of linear canopy, T3 - 0.8 g.i.a.m-1 of linear canopy and T4 - 1.2 g.i.a.m-1 of linear canopy. The results were analyzed using Tukey test at 5% of probability. It was evaluated the percentage of flowering and productivity, including number of fruits per tree and yield per hectare. Observed that among the tree mangoes varieties the use of PBZ promoted better flowering and fruit yield. 'Bourbon' and 'Rose' presented higher flowering and productivity than 'Palmer' when treated with PBZ.; Besides that, PBZ use promoted better response to anticipation of flowering and fruit harvest, independent of the dose used in relation to test. There was tendency of increasing flowering and productivity with PBZ concentration between 0.4 to 0.8 g.i.a. lineal m-1 of cup for all the varieties.
